USGS Annual Groundwater Table Data: How Are We Doing?

The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N. is sponsoring a Going Green Sustainability Lecture “USGS Annual Groundwater Table Data: How Are We Doing?” to be held at the offices of the Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC) on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 7pm. BACKGROUND: The USGS has been monitoring groundwater table levels in hundreds of water wells in our region for more than 40 years, including wells that are pumping water from the Chico, Evangeline, and Jasper aquifers--sources of drinking water for much of Montgomery County. At October’s Going G.R.E.E.N. lecture, Mr. Braun will discuss the results from the latest round of measurements and will highlight various trends that have developed over the past decades of data collection and analysis. SPEAKER: Mr. Braun graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Geological Sciences in August of 1997 and received a Master’s degree in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering in December 2015, also from UT Austin. He began working at the U.S. Geological Survey in the Texas Water Science Center in January 1996 as a hydrologic technician before transitioning to the role of hydrologist in June 1998. In November of 2015, he was named the Groundwater Specialist for the Texas Water Science Center. He is currently in an acting role as the Gulf Coast Studies Section Chief. This event is free and registration is not necessary. Those who attend will also enjoy learning about HARC’s energy and water efficient building, which has been awarded the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum Green Building Certification. HARC’s is the first building in Montgomery County to be designated as LEED Platinum.
